Campaign 5 : Tropico Above All

Tropico will always be the best place in the world. In order to make sure everyone knows this, you will need to make sure Tropico holds a number of World Records.


Primary Missions :

You will need to choose between one of the following tracks to start with :
- World's Biggest Papaya - Easy and enables you to have a strong Papaya-centered economy.
- World's Smelliest Cheese - Easy and enables you to have a strong Cheese-centered economy.
- World's Largest Mustache on a Woman - Harder but gives you a 30,000$ head start.

(Papaya Track) Papaya Mania - Build 4 Papaya Farms.

Once you have completed the objective, you will be told that the record is suspended, as it led to too much war and bloodshed.

(Papaya Track) Bigger is Better - Build a Horticulture Station near 4 Papaya Farms.

Penultimo will warn you that Van Hoof has increased your building costs by 50% to try and stop you. Shortly thereafter you will be rewarded 20,000$ by the international community for having crossed Van Hoof. Make sure you wait for the cash before you complete the mission. When you do, your building prices will return to normal.

(Cheese Track) The Aroma of the Gods - Have 6 Goat Ranches

Once you have completed the objective, Van Hoof will tell you that the record belongs to her home town, and that she will write a letter of complaint to the UN to stop you.

(Cheese Track) What's That Smell ? - Have a Garbage Dump near 6 of your Goat Ranches

Penultimo will warn you that Van Hoof has increased your building costs by 50% to try and stop you. Shortly thereafter you will be rewarded 20,000$ by the international community for having crossed Van Hoof. Make sure you wait for the cash before you complete the mission. When you do, your building prices will return to normal.

(Mustache Track) Senorita Chinchilla - Raise overall Hapiness to 55%

Once you have completed the objective, Van Hoof will state that the title has been in her family for generations, and that she will take action at the UN to prevent ou from achieving your goals. She hopes her daughter wins.
TIP : try to satisfy each need a little bit, build a church, a clinic and a restaurant, as well as some housing. Use an immigration office set to Tropico First in order to avoir population growth. You should have plenty of money from foreign aid as long as you stay small, so use that to fund your efforts. Bring in foreign exports and don't hesitate to use Wind Turbines to power up improved tenements or better entertainment.

(Mustache Track) That Thing Has Its Own Mustache - Have 7 Soldiers

TIP : build an armory either get all 3 generals, or just get one and build a guard station.

Bad Publicity or Good Marketing - Complete 5 more World Records.

Once you have completed the initial track, you will need to complete at least 5 other World Records. Once this is done, you should have access to the "Records Are Easy" mission that will let you win the game. It looks like record missions are given to you at random throughout the game. You will be told that for each journalist present on the island you will gain 5,000$ whenever a record is completed.
TIP : with an easy access to cheap electricity through Wind Turbines of 40MW, you can build several TV and Radio stations. You will need good education in order to fill them with qualified personnel. Don't hesitate to set the Journalist wage a little higher than other college workers. Your Journalists can then become your primary source of income throughout the game.

(Record) Largest Population - Have 3 Docks to accomodate the influx of population.

China will send you some of their trouble-makers so you can teach them the beauty of tropican communism.

(Record) Nobel Prize for Peace in Mathematics - Have 3 Generals.
>>> Nobel Peace Prize in Mathematics (counts as a record)
Tip : Easy if you picked the Mustache track. An armory will do the trick, but you'll need to bring in or train the college graduates.

(Record) Most Interesting Animal - Build a Zoo.
>>> Most Interesting Animal record.
Building a Zoo will let you expose your native Tapirs as the most interesting animal in the world.

(Record) Most Rum Drunk - Have a Rum Distillery near 2 Churches
>>> Most Rum Drunk record.

Tip : if you're not producing any sugar, make sure to set imports as active.

(Record) World's Strongest Army - Pay 5,000$ and survive a 5-man rebel attack.

Make sure you have a sufficiently strong army to fight them off.

(Record) World's Richest Country - Have 2 Banks.
>>> World's Richest Country record.

(Record) World's Biggest Territory - Build a Nuclear Program.

(Record) Most Records Held - Complete 7 Records

It's the record for having more records than everyone else. You'll need to complete every single record available.

Records Are Easy - Build a Mausoleum

Notes :
- Your starting point is high uphill, so wind turbines built close by will function at 40MW, their maximum value.
- After the first record, you will gain 5,000$ for each journalist on the island when a record is achieved.
